Molasses Cookies

Set oven at 400 °F (200 °C)

Put the following in a food processor:

• 2 cups flour
• 1/2 cup shortening
• 1/2 cup sugar
• 1/2 cup light molasses
• 1 egg
• 2 tsp baking soda
• 1 tsp. ginger
• 1 tsp. cinnamon
• 1/4 tsp salt
• 1/3 cup cold water
  and mix at medium speed.

Grease a cookie sheet or line a baking tray.

Put rounded spoonfuls on the sheet, about 2 in apart.

Garnish with:

• walnuts and/or raisins

Bake for 8 minutes 400 °F (200 °C)or until tops spring back when lightly pressed.

Remove and cool on wire racks.
