A while ago I became interested in Geology. I like it because it relates to most things you see around you. You can see geological structures and materials when you go for a walk in the country, go on holiday or visit shops and see decorative shop fronts. It then becomes the ideal hobby - I can highly recommend it. I started by taking an Advanced Level Geology course and this is an approach I can recommend - it gives you a very good grounding in the science. I have also done some short courses and am a member of the Geology Section of the Natural History Society of Northumbria - in fact I was "persuaded" to become secretary.
